Moments of Being
Moments of Being
In Moments of Being, Alessandro Risuleo stages the human body as a threshold—between impulse and structure, between emotional abstraction and rational construction. His figures, both confined and liberated within an elastic veil, distort into shifting forms that seem to arise from an inner choreography of tension, breath, and resistance.
In stark contrast, the background reveals technical geometries—architectural drawings, precise lines, the language of engineered order. It is here that the friction emerges: between the imperfect shape of the moving body and the rigid perfection of the technical mark. Risuleo suggests that the human being is eternally suspended between two complementary forces—the freedom of gesture and the discipline of systems, the vitality of chaos and the reassurance of rules.
Despite their formal abstraction, the images possess a subtle, almost liturgical drama. The body—partially concealed—becomes even more present through its very denial. Each pose is a moment of being, to borrow the words of Virginia Woolf: a fragment of embodied truth, where what we are—not what we appear to be—rises to the surface.
Moments of Being is a meditation on the body as a vessel of ontological tension. Not a machine, nor a mere symbol, but a point of intersection between what can be measured and what escapes definition. A gesture that bends, but does not break—within the fragile perimeter of identity.
