Fall into Darkness

Fall into Darkness

In Fall into Darkness, Alessandro Risuleo crafts a visual parable of desire and descent—of the seduction of light and the vertigo of the unknown. At the center of the work is a female figure, an aerial dancer suspended above the clouds like an angel caught between two worlds. Yet it is curiosity—ancient, irresistible—that compels her to cross the threshold. And to fall.

The narrative unfolds as a sequence of interior visions, where the body floats through a space that feels more psychological than atmospheric. Her fall is not physical—it is emotional, existential. The protagonist traverses the invisible border between what is promised and what is revealed, between imagination and disillusion. She descends, drawn by an elsewhere that hints at meaning, only to encounter emptiness, anxiety, and disorientation.

Here, the body is both elevated and captive, yearning and vulnerable. It seeks, like the figures sculpted by Auguste Rodin—caught between impulse and weight. Yet it is also archetypal: Eve, Icarus, every being who dares to look beyond and pays the price for it.

With a rigorously aesthetic direction and dense symbolic framework, Risuleo reflects on the ambiguity of desire and its power to deceive. Fall into Darkness is not a condemnation, but a meditation on the risk of experience—on the often painful necessity of passing through shadow in order to understand the nature of light.
